Over the last week I moved my stuff from my tiny office to the "game room" (basically a den with a pool table) in order to be able to do everything I need in the same room. I have spoken about this before, but because I have a small office I do different parts of my business in different areas of the house. I generally make everything in my office, thats where i have my sewing machine. I have my fabric and ironing board in the next room, which is supposed to be the work out room, but I am slowly taking over, thats where I do all my ironing. My cutting in generally done in the game room because there is a big floor space. I have my shipping station, where I package everything up in the basement. And last but not least I hang dry my fabric over my sisters canopy bed. While I am incredibly grateful I can take over so many rooms in the house, it is a little annoying having everything all over. I just want to be able to do everything in one room. Yesterday in the car on the way back from out Mother's Day dinner, we were talking about my workspace. My brother said he was going to start using the work out room again. Which led to a discussion about my crap all over the house. My brother insists I should use the basement but it's filled with items from my apartment, furniture, extra pantry items, etc. Plus its a basement so its not ideal. Then I said "why don't I just use your office dad" and he said "I was just going to say that". Now to me that seems like he's all for it. He has a desktop in there thats from the 90s (no joke), but he mostly uses a laptop thats downstairs. It would need to be organized and cleaned out but I am hoping I can convince him. My only hesitation is that I won't be living here forever. But in the mean time it would make my business life SO much easier. Plus its right next to my room so that is helpful. I will keep you updated!
I hope all the Mamas out there had a great day yesterday. Mother's don't get the credit they deserve, If you decide to stay at home and spend time with your kids, people wonder what you do all day. If you go back to work, not only do you feel guilty, but people make you feel bad about it. You truly can't win in this society! I've seen pretty close hand how hard it is to raise a child and run a household. So props to all moms: the ones with husbands to help, the ones whose husbands suck, the ones who have to work, the ones whose husbands are not in the picture and all of the moms in between. I am also sad for the moms who lost their babies, and kids my age and adults who no longer have their moms (like my mom). Don't forget about them on Mother's Day!
Sorry that was so long. It's obvious I had a lot to say, or I just am sick of writing things related to school so this was a nice break. I am hoping to do a few recipe/DIY posts so stay tuned!
I am going to leave you with two links I found last week. If you want to watch a video that'll melt your heart and if you're anything like me, make you cry, watch this. And if you like ducklings, you'll love this.
Happy Monday! Drink some coffee (or tea)!
